I graduated high school at Victory Christian School in 1998 and spent a year at Bob Jones University. I’ve taught 1st grade Sunday school at my home church for 15 years, and 10 of those years I spent as a full-time Bible club missionary teacher. I’ve taught at Bible clubs all across Southern NJ, VBS clubs, at a Missions trip in Wyoming on a reservation, as well as teaching at Spanish Day camp, bilingual Bible club meetings, and over 10 years of teaching at Chinese Retreats in NJ, PA, and MS.
After I got married, I lived in Mississippi where I went back to college and graduated from Hinds Community College with Honors and Phi Theta Kappa. I took every Spanish class they offered with high marks and did Honors research in conjunction with Spanish classes on interesting cultural topics.
After reading scientific studies on how being bilingual protects the brain, I am convinced that learning languages and using them should last a lifetime and can equip students with a special gift for God’s service. Therefore, I will encourage students to continue to pursue further foreign language studies for life, to help make their careers and businesses more successful, their foreign clients comfortable, and their minds enriched and challenged. I have an academic approach using practical, real life, thematic vocabulary to prepare middle school students for high school Spanish and life. To me, Spanish holds a special place, at least as valuable for life as math and science.
I’m 39 years old and I come from a solid Christian family. I’m married; my husband was made in China, and he taught me how to cook authentic Chinese stir fry. I enjoy gardening, crochet, cooking, baking, drawing Chinese symbol calligraphy, writing poetry and working on my novel, screenwriting, plant propagation, and tea parties. I’m fascinated with foreign languages, which is why I have studied 5, including Mandarin Chinese, Greek (both New Testament and modern), and over ten years of Spanish studies. I love teaching, writing, and public speaking.
I’ve known since I was 7 years old that God wanted me to teach. That’s His will for me. Teaching has always been my heart, and it is my desire to see my students excel in class and succeed in life. I joined ACA as the Spanish teacher in December 2018.
